EARLY VOTING BEGINS. GET READY TO VOTE!

September 27, 2026

By Sue Racanelli

Your absentee ballot for the November 3rd General Election is in the mail. You will receive it anytime in the first two weeks of October.

Early Voting begins as soon as you receive your ballot. Carefully read and follow instructions listed on your ballot. Use a black pen to fill in the ovals. Put your ballot in the special envelope provided and sign it neatly.

If you moved or had a name change, call your Town Clerk or visit vote.vermont.gov to update your information and have your ballot mailed to you. November 2 is the last day you can request and pick up a ballot from your Town Clerk.

You have four options for voting early:

  • Mail your ballot back to your Town Clerk. We recommend you mail your ballot at least two weeks before Election Day. Your ballot must be received by Election Day to be counted, not postmarked Election Day.
  • Bring your ballot to your Town Clerk before the office closes on November 2.
  • Deposit your ballot in the drop box at your town office any time before Election Day.
  • Bring your ballot with you to your polling place before 7pm on Election Day

If you are ill or have a disability and cannot get to the polls, you have until November 2 to request an absentee ballot from your Town Clerk. Two justices of the peace will deliver and bring back your ballot to the polling place so it can be placed in the ballot box and counted.

You can track your ballot’s progress at the Vermont Voter Portal (vote.vermont.gov) or call your Town Clerk to confirm they received it.

VOTE! Our Democracy Depends on It.
